Be Still

Ernie and I have been so uplifted every day by the notes he picks out of his Encouragement Jar. Today's heart was written by Jamie, and it was just such a wonderful reminder of what we have been forced to do at this time in our lives. We have always loved this scripture, but it is particularly meaningful to us right now.

We are being still, in Durham, removed from all the "normal" busyness of life. Why is it so hard to be still and stop striving? We now have one very simple goal each day...to get to the Clinic so Ernie can have his blood drawn and then be given what he physically needs to get better. Every day we realize in a whole new way that all will happen according to God's timetable, His plan, and in His way. He is our refuge to be sure, and He is to be exalted in our circumstances, no matter how difficult they might be. By being still, we have time to seek His face, pray for His strength, and beg Him to make us good witnesses.

This has been a hard week for Ernie with loss of hair, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, and extreme fatigue. However, those very things cause one to slow down and be still, and in all of it we KNOW that He is God and we would be lost without Him. Thank you Jamie for choosing such a wonderful scripture to encourage our hearts!

  1. I'm so glad you are enjoying the hearts and scriptures. Love you so much and pray for you all the time. You are almost over the "hump"'. Love you.

  2. Ernie, Psalm 46:10 is my favorite verse. The Greek word for "know" here is 'gnosko' which means 'to know experientially.' I think you're there.

We love you both and the prayers will keep coming.
