Our holiday weekend was quite relaxed with our first event being my brother David's birthday celebration on Sunday, the 3rd. He is 20 months older than me and resides in Davidson, NC with his wife Shannon. After many years of living in Colorado, we are thankful they are close enough to drive on over for a meal and a visit. And of course, he was a good sport about succumbing to our family traditions of the inflatable birthday cake that no longer holds air, and the very old Happy Birthday sign!
After a nice afternoon of visiting, Birthday Dinner consisted of baked ham, our Mom's delicious potato salad, baked beans, fresh corn on the cob, and ripe summer watermelon. David spent some time as a meat cutter for Publix, so he is always asked to carve the ham (which he happily agreed to).
The dessert of choice was homemade French Silk Pie, one of David's favorites. Here he is with his very proud mother!
Ernie and I wish David a year filled with good health, family, friends, fun, travel and all the wonderful blessings life has to offer. Happy Birthday...we love you!
