Our Cinderella Evening in NYC!

Well, this is my last post about NYC, and what an evening we had! When my father was stationed in Naples, Italy, he befriended a young Captain by the name of George. He was single and was often invited to our home for a home cooked meal. I think he has been trying to re-pay the hospitality my parents showed him ever since! George met his wife Carol in Italy, and has done very well as an attorney in New Jersey. He and Carol generously treat us to amazing "nights on the town" whenever we are in the area. This was no exception!

We were told to be ready by 3:00, that we would be having dinner in the city, and then be treated to a Broadway show. Well, low and behold, a limo pulled up to my aunt's house at 3:00. We pinched ourselves to be sure we weren't dreaming, then got into the limo and headed for New York City!

We were treated to an amazing dinner at Del Frisco's. My filet was cooked perfectly and I could cut it with a table knife. The desserts were out of this world! The service was top notch.

 

 

 Soon it was time to head to the show. The limo picked us up right outside the restaurant where he had dropped us off and away we went.

It was amazing to see veteran actors and actresses, still active and using their talents at the ages of 86 and 82. We really enjoyed the show, but before we knew it we were being picked up by the limo and driven back to New Jersey. I loved seeing the city at night!

More of Mother's Day!

Sunday morning I woke up to little Emery's smiling face!  Perfect way to start the real Mother's Day. Before I knew it, Kyle was busy making Monkey Bread, Leah was cutting up fruit for a delicious salad, and the bacon was on the griddle, so EZ, Mom and I got to play with Emery.

What would a visit with Grandpa be without a horsie ride!

Emery had such a great time playing with Grandpa. I love her laugh!

We had a delicious breakfast and then just hung out together while Emery took her morning nap.  Before we knew it, Leah and Kyle had to pack and head back to Georgia :-(. Of course we had to take a few more pictures before they started the long drive home.

 What a wonderful Mother's Day weekend we had with our family.  Mom and I feel blessed indeed!

Mother's Day Weekend in Boone

This year we were able to spend Mother's Day in Boone. Leah, Kyle and Emery came up on Saturday, along with my brother, David, and his wife Shannon. So though we were missing the Dew Crew and Nick, and my brother Johnny and his wife JoAnn, we were able to be with other family members, enjoying the cool mountain air and as always, delicious food!

We arrived early on Friday and decided to take a drive on the Parkway since it was a gorgeous, clear day. We never tire of seeing mountains, waterfalls and beautiful flowers! Here is a taste of springtime in beautiful western North Carolina:

Mom and I spent the morning making a salad, along with my favorite lasagna recipe. We wanted all the work to be done so we could just enjoy the family and have a nice relaxed meal together. We had a great time catching up and everything was delicious, including the decadent Red Velvet Cake David picked up at Harris Teeter.

(Note that EZ is sitting at the table...big change from this time last year!)

Unfortunately David and Shannon had to head home after dessert, but we were so happy Leah, Kyle and Emery would be spending another day with us.  Stop by tomorrow for more Mother's Day fun with Emery!
