Pancakes, Porches, Pot Roast and Pups!

Boone is always a place of rest and relaxation for us.  A place where the air is generally crisp, cool and clear, and there is plenty of time to make pancakes, enjoy swinging on the porch, catch the scent of pot roast cooking in the crock pot all day, and take the pups for a swim in the park. 

Even when it rains, we love to just open the doors to the covered porches and take in the sights and smells of summer showers in the mountains of NC. Of course there are plenty of beautiful sunny days to enjoy, and they are always perfect for a walk in the nearby park. Just look at that Carolina Blue sky with those gorgeous clouds!

I found some shoes on sale at Mast General Store that made the walking even more enjoyable. I highly recommend these flip flops, and yes, it does feel like you are stepping on a yoga mat. What a treat for the feet!

One of our favorite recipes these days is a simple apple cake with maple frosting. Really tastes great with a glass of milk on a cool summer evening. But of course there's always ice cream with fruit, chocolate drizzle and glazed pecans if you don't care for cake. Either one will certainly satisfy the sweet tooth!
