Our Wonderful Mother's Day

Mother's Day really began for me on Friday, when Ernie surprised me with beautiful tulips and delicious chocolates...two things I LOVE and was able to appreciate the entire weekend! Monkey Bread, fruit, and cappuchino was the breakfast of choice for my Mom and I on a beautiful Sunday morning here in NC. (EZ enjoyed breakfast in bed as his legs got going for the day)

Then it was off to church for a wonderful sermon and historic vote by the membership to keep our son-in-law, Jamie, on as full time pastor, while allowing him to become an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and History of Ideas at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, beginning this August. We are so proud of Jamie and delighted that he can pursue both of his passions...preaching/shepherding and teaching!

Pictures of three generations of mothers followed. What a joy it is for the three of us to be Moms! (We didn't plan to be color coordinated...guess we are more alike than we realize!) Wish Leah could have joined us  now that she too is a Mommy!

So proud of our two daughters and what amazing mothers they are!

Italian food is always a favorite in our family, so we ladies opted for a homemade lasagna dinner, complete with Artisan cheese bread and tossed salad. EZ was the photographer, and Nick arrived home from a wedding just after we finished eating. (We did save him a hearty helping!)

Next came the opening of our gifts. I just love how Nathan wrote my name on the envelope all by himself and really appreciate everyone's thoughtfulness!

Following dinner we headed out to Six Sundays in Spring at Joyner Park. What a gorgeous night it was to just be outside, listen to music, watch the kids play, enjoy our family, and appreciate our mothers. I was so thankful that Ernie could come along. The kids loved him being within easy reach on the ground!

Finally, we headed home and ended the day with cheesecake and a ladies-only Scrabble game (which Tara won, hands down).

Whew...what a busy but wonderful Mother's Day. Hope yours was wonderful too!
