December 16th will mark the ten year wedding anniversary of our oldest daughter, Tara and her husband, Jamie. She met her "husband to be" on a mission trip when she was only 14, and as the saying goes, the rest is history. Their friendship survived many long distance separations and a four year age difference, eventually becoming a beautiful partnership dedicated to ministry, teaching, friends and family. He loves Tara dearly and we knew from day one that he would always provide for her, protect her, and even give his life for her.

We are so very proud of all that Jamie has accomplished in his 34 years. He is a pastor, teacher, husband, father, son, brother and friend to so many. He dearly loves Jesus and has dedicated his life to the study, preaching and teaching of His word. He never takes his salvation for granted and has such a soft heart for the lost and those who've never heard.

As our son-in-law, and pastor, we have experienced firsthand Jamie's shepherd's heart. We are blessed each Sunday by his sermons and know him intimately enough to be certain he is sincere. We will never forget his guidance and compassion in leading us through the "valley of the shadow of death" in my father's passing. How comforting to have him there, praying, reading scripture, consoling us, singing with us, and hurting with us. He is a gift.

Together he and our daughter, Tara, have two sets of boy/girl twins. It is no easy feat to pastor full time, teach at a college/seminary, and be an involved father of four! Yet, Jamie is there every step of the way for his kids from getting up in the night, to going to doctor's visits, to reading books and bible stories, to changing dirty diapers, and on and on. His kids love their daddy!

Jamie and Ernie have enjoyed doing many things together, from eating wings, to watching guy movies, to building swing sets and podiums. However, since Ernie's diagnosis in January, Jamie has stepped up and been there for Ernie and I in a whole new way (as our entire family has!). Being right next door, he has watched over us and helped us in ways too numerous to list. From painting, to moving, to driving, to yard work, to prayer, to financial support, to hospital and home visits, to just spending time with us.

Jamie showed up unexpectedly to blow leaves off our new grass during the surprise snow storm. |
This post could never adequately convey how much Jamie means to us, so let us just say, we are VERY thankful for Jamie and we love him like a son.

I couldn't agree more. I truly don't know how Jamie has time for everything he's involved in. He's the perfect addition to our family, and the perfect hubby for Tara. Love you JD!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post, Mom and Dad! Yes, Jamie is a fantastic husband, father, and son-in-law. I'm so glad that God added him into our family too!
ReplyDeletePS. Looking back at that swingset and podium~ Wow, Dad, you and Jamie make a great team! Keep getting better so ya'll can do some more projects:)
Jamie is so special to me, that when I think about all he means to me, it brings tears to my eyes. He helped so much in in bringing me through "Grandpa's" illness and death. I have loved his preaching from day one, and now I have watched him become and loving husband and father. I couldn't be more proud of him and am so happy that he is my "grandson."
ReplyDeleteYeah, he rocks. I like what you said Linda about how rich his sermons are, because in knowing him well, you know he is sincere. He has always had a tender heart and has always been one of my heros. I am very proud to be "Jamie's sister," as I am often introduced. Love you bro!
